Frequently Asked Questions | Architectural & Real Estate Photography on the Monterey Peninsula
What makes Manny Espinoza Photography different from other architectural photographers on the Monterey Peninsula?
Every project is shot on a Fujifilm GFX 100 II medium format camera — one of the few photographers in the Carmel/Monterey area using this level of equipment for architectural work. Medium format produces significantly higher resolution, truer color reproduction, and greater dynamic range than full-frame cameras, which matters enormously for luxury properties with custom finishes, imported stone, and designer interiors. Combined with 14 years of professional Photoshop expertise, every image is hand-edited — not batch processed.
Do you use HDR photography?
It depends on the shot. HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography has advanced significantly in recent years, and when used selectively, it can be an effective tool for certain lighting situations. Rather than applying it as a blanket approach, I use HDR when it genuinely serves the image — and rely on professional lighting setups and careful hand-editing when it doesn't. The goal is always accurate, magazine-quality results that honor the true character of the space.
What areas do you serve?
Manny Espinoza Photography serves the full Monterey Peninsula and surrounding region, including Carmel-by-the-Sea, Carmel Valley, Pebble Beach, Pacific Grove, Monterey, Big Sur, and the broader Central Coast.
Who do you typically work with?
Architects, interior designers, custom home builders, luxury real estate agents, and property developers — particularly those working on high-end residential and commercial projects on the Monterey Peninsula.
How far in advance do I need to book?
For luxury estate shoots, booking 1–2 weeks in advance is recommended to allow time to plan the optimal lighting schedule.
Contact Manny at 831-236-1998 or manny@mannyespinoza.com to discuss availability.
How long does an architectural shoot take?
Shoot length depends on the size and complexity of the property. A typical residential shoot runs 2–4 hours; larger luxury estates or multi-building properties may require a full day or multiple sessions.
What is your turnaround time for delivering images?
Final images are typically delivered within 3 business days of the shoot, optimized for both web and print use.
Do you offer drone/aerial photography?
Yes. Licensed drone services are available to capture aerial perspectives of properties, landscapes, and surrounding environments — particularly effective for coastal estates and large parcels along the Monterey Peninsula.
Do you offer twilight and dusk photography?
Yes. Twilight and dusk sessions are available and highly effective for luxury exterior photography, creating dramatic, warm imagery that standard daytime shoots can't replicate.
Do I need to be present during the shoot?
Not necessarily, but access to the property must be arranged in advance. I'm happy to coordinate directly with homeowners, agents, or property managers.
How should a property be prepared before the shoot?
Less is more. Declutter surfaces, ensure all lights are working, tidy outdoor spaces, and remove vehicles from driveways where possible. I'll provide a full preparation checklist when you book.
